Judge Robert A. Grant Memorial Scholarship
Judge Robert Grant was a long-time supporter of Scouting and witnessed the great benefits that Scouting has to offer our society. In his estate plan, he remembered the Scouts of LaSalle Council and left a sum of money which has been placed in our endowment fund and will produce income forever.
At his family’s request, the income produced from this endowment gift will be used for annual scholarship awards to Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers to further their Scouting leadership training. Examples of this Junior Leader training, such as NYLT, are offered here in this Council and at Philmont.
All Scouting youth leader training courses may be considered for the scholarship funds. The Judge Grant Scholarship Committee will consider many points in reviewing the application and may request a personal appearance of the applicant.
Some Candidate Considerations:
- Will the training course make the individual Scout a better leader in his/her Unit and in society. Is the Scout active in his/her Unit?
- Has the Scout participated in the Popcorn Sale, Council Show Ticket Sale or otherwise supported Scouting and himself/herself in Scouting?
Please submit the application at least six weeks prior to the registration deadline for the course. The Application needs to be signed by the Scout, a parent, and a Unit leader.
