What is IOLS/BALOO Training?

Course Descriptions:
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) (S11)
Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops and Varsity Scout Teams, in order to be considered "trained".

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) (C32)
This course is designed to help Cub Scout and Webelos leaders enhance the outdoor program for Cub and Webelos Scouts in their den by teaching some basic outdoor skills as well as skills needed to complete some of the required and elective adventures.  BALOO includes both an online training component and this hands on outdoor experience.  Be sure to log into my.scouting.org and complete this online training before attending this weekend.

Who Should Attend:
• Boy Scout leaders this is required training for your role as a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster.
• Cub Scout and Webelos den leaders to prepare for outdoor skills needed for the Webelos Adventures. At least one leader is required to complete this training for any Pack camping activity.
