Scouting For Food

But Wait! There's More!

Did you know that Scouting For Food, much like community service and conservation work, is actually a year round program of Scouting?  Scouting for Food can be done at any time to help support the food insecurities of those in need.  This includes our friends, neighbors, loved ones, and even our four legged friends.

In 2025, we want to re-emphasize the importance and impact that Scouting for Food can have in the communities that we live in, work in, and love.   So, Stay tuned for upcoming details on the 2025 Scouting For Food Campaign!

In the meantime, we would like to encourage you to take some time to review the updated resources that our 2025 Event Chair and Staff Advisor have put together for us.

Why Participate?

This is a great opportunity for Scouts to earn service hours for ranks while making a big impact on their community. It also serves as a way to strengthen Scouting’s ties to the community and is an easy-to-plan program for your unit to do during the year. And did we mention, Scouts have fun doing it!

Think about the Pride that this program instills in the leaders of tomorrow by knowing that they helped to support their community.  We appreciate the love and time that YOU put forth to ensure that our neighbors have access to the food and personal items necessary to raise the quality of care for their families. Though you might not know the particular neighbors who you have helped, please know that you have made a tremendous impact. Thank you again for all your Scouts have done.

What's Next?

Please stay tuned as we re-vamp our website for 2025.  We'll be launching a new tracking option to make this process even easier. In addition, we're working to finalize our partnership with Martin's Supermarkets for 2025 as well!

But, don't let this stop you! Go ahead! Plan your Scouting For Food Drive! We just ask that you don't reach out to Martin's Supermarkets just yet :)

Dear Unit Leaders: Thank you for participating in the LaSalle Council’s Annual Scouting for Food drive. A Scouts promise is “to help other people at all times”, and I cant think in a better way to serve our community than through the Scouting For Food Program. Our opportunity to do "A Good Turn" has a positive impact on so many families in our community. Food banks and pantries are restocked for the upcoming months and Scouts have an opportunity to see how community service and volunteerism makes a difference. This is truly a meaningful project. Scouting for Food is as successful as you make it. Be sure everyone knows your plan and expectations. Work your area completely, advertise and make sure people know the dates you will collecting donations the public looks forward to being a part of our Good Turn and all help is important so please give the people the chance to help don't make them feel overlooked. To assist you, we have prepared a Unit Information Guide. Please review the materials thoroughly. If you have any questions, contact the Council Office, your District Executive, or me. Yours in Scouting, Annie Alvarado-Guillaumin Scouting For Food Chair Scouting America, LaSalle Council
