SAKIMA LODGE - UNIT LEADER'S INFORMATION

A couple questions have come up about Candidates.  Hopefully this will help.

Question: I'm a candidate from 2009.  Can I attend a 2010 Ordeal Induction Weekend?
Answer: No - A Candidate is a candidate for one year.  If they have not completed their Ordeal within that year - they must be re-elected by their troop.  This is not a Sakima Lodge rule - this is a rule as set forth by the National Order of the Arrow Committee.  We simply follow it.  This is explained in each invitation letter that goes out to the candidates.  Please do not send any 2009 candidates to the 2010 Ordeal Induction Weekends.

Question: Do I have to attend the entire weekend?  I am in Soccer and have a game on Saturday morning.
Answer: A candidate must attend the entire fellowship weekend. The Ordeal experience is continuous from 9pm Friday evening to Sunday morning.  A candidate will have to decide which is more important, their Ordeal experience or the conflicting event.  Continuous Attendance is required for the Ordeal.

Units Elections and Camping Promotions are held from January to April of each calendar year.

Unit Elections are underway for 2010. Thanks to all the troops holding an election.

Sakima Lodge does not hold unit elections at summer camp. Holding an election and camping promotion in the winter or early spring exposes summer camping to those scouts who may not go to summer camp otherwise. Plus - it helps the lodge earn Quality Lodge.

Contact your Chapter O/A Adviser if you have questions about your election held this past spring.
