Calling all Cub Scouts of Algonquian District
Let’s cruise the high seas this summer at Day Camp!! We are about to take an adventure and we are looking for you to join us. We need sailors and captains to run our fleet!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When: June 17-20, 2008 Registration begins at 8:20am on June 17, 18, 19 and on June 20 it begins at 11:50am. We will be done at 3:35pm on June 17, 18, 19 and on June 20 closing will be around 8:00pm.
Where: ZB Falcons Conservation Club - Here each Scout will find an island of over 200 acres on Roosevelt Road in South Bend, just a few miles west of 31.
$COST$: Until May 15, 2008 the registration fee is $45, from May 16 to June 1 it is $50, and after June1 the cost will be $60. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Each Pack needs to make sure that Tigers, Wolves/Bears, and Webelos have adult walkers, or captains, to direct these young sailors in each of the ports of call. Remember all Tigers have to have their adult partner with them, leaving two adults for each of the other groups. If leadership is an issue, please contact the directors. Walkers may trade off during the day and during the week (dividing up the week).
Sailors (Scouts), will need to bring a sack lunch each day (snack for Friday afternoon), shoes for walking (not sandals), rain gear, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, spending money for the Harbor Store (Trading Post). Make sure that their name is on all items as we are not responsible for lost items. Captains and Pixies will need to bring the same thing. If medicine is necessary, it needs to be in its original container with the Scout’s name on the label.
Pixie camp will be available for all those who are potty trained, and are not old enough to be in Cub Scouts and/or sisters of Cub Scouts. The cost will be $10 per day per child (discounts for multiple family members – see camp directors).
All staff is highly trained, including a health officer. We are always looking for more staff. Let the directors know if you are interested.
This year we are offering an opportunity for Scouts to camp out with an adult partner on Friday night until Saturday morning at 8am. Advance registration is needed for this wonderful opportunity. There is no additional charge for this program. We will have a special campfire this night. If you participate, you will need to bring your own tent, sleeping gear, flash lights, snacks and drinks, and of course a change of clothes. What another great way to camp under the stars!
Friday evening we will have a family picnic. You will need to bring your own place settings, drinks, and side dishes. After we have had a chance to eat, there will be Grass Raft Races, and highlights from the week will be shared. Further details to come soon.
We have heard what the boys want more of – more time on the ranges! So this year each boy will have a longer time at the ranges. One day, they will be at BB and the next day at archery. HOORAY!! There will be many other exciting things to do at each port of call, including fishing, sling shots, sports, raingutter regatta, and much more. All packs will be combined to form the crews of the ships that are part of our fleet. They will be traveling the rough and rugged seas from port to port, with rest stops available and special programming during these stops – allowing for the ships and crew members to refuel as needed.
Camp uses the buddy system and relies on the Guide to Safe Scouting to uphold safety and the policies of the Boy Scouts of America. Good sportsmanship and Scout Spirit are an expected part of camp for all in attendance.
