Complete Story

2006 LaSalle Council Fall Popcorn Sale Info

Fall Popcorn Sale Signup & Timeline (pdf)

We’ve planned an exciting sale for this year, with plenty of fun in store including improved sales training and unit kickoff support.  The sale will feature essentially the same product mix as last fall, at the same price levels.  Eight products remain the same: the Chocolate Lovers Tin containing 5 different items (Chocolate Covered Peanuts, Chocolate & White Chocolate Caramel Crunch, and Chocolate & White Chocolate Covered Pretzels) selling for $50; the 3 Way Tin (Gourmet Cheddar Cheese Corn, Chocolate Caramel Crunch, and Gourmet Caramel Corn w/ Almonds and Pecans) selling for $40; the 30 pack Microwave Variety Pack containing a 6 Pack each of 5 exciting flavors selling for $30 (Kettle Corn, Kettle Corn Light, Unbelievable Butter, Butter and Butter Light); the Cheese Lovers Tin (3 bags of Gourmet Cheddar Cheese Corn) selling for $25; the 15 Pack Kettle Corn (100% Kettle Corn), the 24oz. Chocolate Caramel Crunch, and the 26oz. Gourmet Caramel Corn w/ Almonds and Pecans selling for $17; and the 11oz. Caramel Corn with Peanuts tin selling for $9.  While Trail’s End cost to us has increased on 7 products (due to increased material & transportation costs), we are not increasing the retail pricing or our cost to the unit.  The 18 Pack Microwave products have been discontinued and are being replaced by 15 Pack Unbelievable Butter and Butter Light microwave products selling for $15.

Research shows that price is only the fifth most popular reason for consumer’s purchasing the product, and over 73% make the decision to buy before looking at an order form.  The sale includes 10 products, 7 price levels, and one commission percentage for your Unit. Your Unit will again earn 30% of the gross sale (see popcorn booklet for specifics) and your Scout’s prizes remain at a value of 6%. Show and Sell orders are due by 9/8, and product pickup is 9/22.  Popcorn Super Saturday happens on 10/28 (Unsold Show & Sell popcorn must be physically returned, Popcorn “Take Order” orders due, Prize Orders due, Show & Sell settlement money due), Take order popcorn distribution is 11/17, all popcorn money & turned in to Council office by December Roundtable (12/12 or 14).  Come to your district’s popcorn kickoff for details (AL 8/28, PT 8/29, PO 8/30, & DM 8/31)

Studies show that 70% of doors we knock on will purchase product, and that the most efficient way to sell is a “Show and Deliver” method of having the product on hand to deliver while we take orders.

The prize program this year will be a Trail’s End program which will include gift certificate options.  We will also offer a “Scout Bucks” option to Troops if they want to allow boys to earn money for camps and activities.  We plan to give units the opportunity to place Show & Sell and prize orders online.

We are expanding the early bird prize program for youth salesman.  Trail’s End is continuing a recognition program for completing one order form with sales, we will again award an early bird prize to a set number of youth who fax in two completed order forms during the fall sale.  We will also hold a weekly prize drawing throughout the sale, with youth receiving an entry in the drawing for each completed order form they fax in during the sale.  The Trail’s End Top Salesman prize (earned in addition to other prizes) remains a $50 gift certificate (for $1,500 in sales).  We will be mailing a great new Family Sale Booklet and Take Order Form to all registered youth in August.

If your Unit achieves a 25% increase in gross sales over last year, you will receive an additional 5% of gross sales as a bonus* (*You must attend your District’s kickoff, hold a unit kickoff with published individual youth sales goals, and settle on time.). Any Units not selling in 2005 who sell this year can also qualify for the bonus. *

Unit popcorn chairman who sign up their units by their August 17 will be awarded an attractive Trail’s End custom designed ball cap.

See the Trail's End website http://www.trails-end.com/TEPublic/ for online training.

If you wish to order an ear of corn hat, go to http://www.nebraskaredzone.com/prodinfo.asp?number=D5508
Item # D5508 - Classic Corn Head - cost $19.99 plus $7.95 shipping.

If you have customers who you are not near enough to be able to deliver to personally, send them to:
www.orderpopcorn.com
Remember, this website will be used only after our sale finishes, and will be an opportunity for those out of reach of our regular sale (or those who want additional product after the sale) to order popcorn in full case lots during the remainder of the year and have it shipped directly to them from Trail’s End.  Orders are credited to your unit through the individuals Scout’s codes issued through the Trail’s End system that the Scouts share with their customers.  The customer then uses this code when ordering on www.orderpopcorn.com to see that your unit receives credit.  We receive 50% profit from Trail’s End (instead of 70% due to increased shipping costs) and will split it 25% for the unit and 25% for the council (no prizes are involved - and youth may not use orderpopcorn.com sales towards total sales credit).  We will send a check or notify you of deposits into your unit account when Trail’s End issues the profits to us.
