To the Scoutmaster, Crew Leader

Another Scouting year ... another opportunity to change the lives of young men in a positive way.

Those of us who volunteer to provide

LaSalle NYLT 2012 look forward to helping you provide

leadership training to the young men in your Troop. We are not only aware but also guided by the

fact that you, as the Scoutmaster (Crew Leader), are responsible for the training of the young

men in your Troop (Crew, including young women.) LaSalle NYLT offers leadership training, a

National BSA Syllabus, and a model team environment. The one-week intensive training provided

at

Camp ToPeNeBee can be part of your overall guidance and mentoring of our future leaders.

Purpose of the Course:

To give Scouts the confidence and knowledge to run the troop program.

To give Scouts the opportunity to share ideas and experience with Scouts from other troops.

To create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at it's best

To enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster: to have fun.

NYLT is ideal for training senior patrol leaders and patrol leaders, and future senior patrol

leaders. It is a valuable experience for any Scout.

Scoutmaster Involvement:

Application of skills learned at NYLT is usually based primarily on

the environment of the home troop. One of the elements of the Course in a skill called Leading

EDGE. The last E of stands for

Enabling. The key to Enabling is to create a positive environment

for application of the leadership skill. Success will influenced by the Scoutmaster's involvement in

the elements of the course. LaSalle NYLT 2012 staff invites Scoutmasters to the Closing

Ceremony, and shares with Scoutmaster the participant’s plans for implementing what he has

learned.
