Another Scouting year ... another opportunity to change the lives of young men in a positive way.

Those of us who volunteer to provide

LaSalle NYLT 2012 look forward to helping you provide

leadership training to the young men and women in your Crew. We are not only aware but also

guided by the fact that you, as the Crew Leader, are responsible for the training of the youth in

your Crew. LaSalle NYLT offers leadership training, a National BSA Syllabus, and a model team

environment. The one-week intensive training provided at

Camp ToPeNeBee can be part of your

overall guidance and mentoring of our future leaders.

Purpose of the Course:

To give Scouts the confidence and knowledge to run the Crew program.

To give Scouts the opportunity to share ideas and experience with Scouts and youth from other

troops and crews.

To create an atmosphere where youth will experience Leadership training at it's best

To enhance the relationship between the participants and their leaders. To have fun.

NYLT is ideal for training youth leaders and future leaders. It is a valuable experience for any

youth.

Both young men and women are invited .

Leader Involvement:

Application of skills learned at NYLT is usually based primarily on the

environment of the Crew. One of the elements of the Course in a skill called Leading EDGE. The

last E of stands for

Enabling. The key to Enabling is to create a positive environment for

application of the leadership skill. Success will influenced by the Leader's involvement in the

elements of the Course. LaSalle NYLT 2012 staff invites Leaders to the Closing Ceremony on

Friday evening, and shares with Leader the participant’s plans for implementing what he has

learned.

Registration for LaSalle NYLT 2012:

1.

The Youth completes a NYLT 2012 Application (copies are available on the council website).

This NYLT 2012 Application Form lists the requirements for attending LaSalle NYLT 2012

and requires the Youth and his parent to agree to them. This places responsibility directly

on the Youth to complete the Registration for the Course as a representative of your

Crew.

It is highly recommended that the Youth complete a leadership training course such a (Crew

Leadership Training) in his Crew or District.

3.

The Youth, his parent(s), and you complete the NYLT 2012 Application and mail back to

LaSalle Council by May 30, 2012.

4.

The Youth will receive additional information about the Course before he attends.

5.

Course fee is $220.00 (including interest fee). After May 30, 2012 the cost is $250.

The LaSalle NYLT 2012 Course is

July 8-14, 2012 .

As the Leader you can help us by completing the attached LaSalle NYLT 2012 Application Form

indicating your permission for each Youth to participate in the Course (one form per Youth,

please.)
